    Punjabi Cinema


    Punjabi cinema is the Punjabi language film industry in the states of Punjab in India and Pakistan. While 20th-Century Punjabi cinema had great influence of Pakistani based Punjabi cinema, in the 21st Century Punjabi cinema, due to its boom, has become synonymous with Indian Punjab.
    The first Punjabi film was made in Calcutta (now Kolkata) and was released in Lahore, provincial capital of the Pakistani Punjab. The Lahore film industry is known as Lollywood, a portmanteau of the words Lahore and Hollywood.
    As of 2009, the Punjabi film industry has produced between 900 and 1,000 films.[citation needed] The average number of releases per year in the 1970s was nine; in the 1980s, eight; and in the 1990s, six. In 1995, the number of films released was 11; it plummeted to seven in 1996 and touched a low of five in 1997. Since the 2000s Punjabi cinema has seen a revival with more releases every year with bigger budgets, homegrown stars, and Bollywood actors of Punjabi descent taking part.

    Marathi cinema

    Marathi cinema refers to films produced in the Marathi language in the state of Maharashtra, India. It is the oldest and a pioneer film industry in India. The first Marathi movie released in India was Shree Pundalik by Dadasaheb Torne on 18 May 1912 at Coronation Cinematograph, Mumbai. and a Marathi crew who were performing Marathi and Sanskrit Sangeet natikas (musicals) and plays in Marathi at that period. The first Marathi talkie film, Ayodhyecha Raja, was released in 1932, just one year after Alam Ara the first Hindi talkie. Marathi cinema has grown in recent years. The industry is based in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
    Raja Harishchandra directed by Dadasaheb Phalke was a Marathi film, now known as India's first full-length feature, was released in 1913. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India's highest award in cinema given annually by the Government of India for lifetime contribution to Indian cinema.

    Tamil cinema

    Tamil cinema (also known as the Tamil film industry, the Cinema of Tamil Nadu or the Chennai film industry) is a film industry based in Chennai,India, which produces feature films in the Tamil language. Most of the movies studio are located in Kodambakkam, also referred to as Kollywood, aportmanteau of Hollywood and Kodambakkam.

    Cinema of Karnataka

    The Cinema of Karnataka, sometimes colloquially referred to as Sandalwood and as Chandanavana in Kannada. is a part of Indian cinema, where motion pictures are produced in the Indian state of Karnataka, and based in Bangalore. Today more than 100 films are made every year. With a total of 650 cinema theatres in Karnataka, a handful of the movies are also released in the United States, Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom and other countries.

    Telugu cinema

    Telugu cinema (or Tollywood) is the Indian film industry based in Hyderabad, India producing motion pictures in the Telugu language. Since 1909, Raghupathi Venkaiah Naidu was involved in many aspects of Indian cinemas history like producing short films, travelling to different regions in Asia to promote film work. In 1921, He produced Bhishma Pratigna the first silent film in the state. He is cited as the father of Telugu Cinema.

    Bollywood

    Bollywood is the informal term popularly used for the Hindi-language film industry based in Mumbai (Bombay), Maharashtra, India. The term is often incorrectly used to refer to the whole of Indian cinema; however, it is only a part of the total Indian film industry, which includes other production centres producing films in multiple languages. Bollywood is the largest film producer in India and one of the largest centres of film production in the world
